About

Maddi Gonzalez is a Mexican-American cartoonist and illustrator from the Rio Grande Valley. She has provided art for comic books, tabletop games, visual novels, art books, toys, theatrical productions, conventions, posters, and apparel. Maddi has been nominated for two Ignatz Awards— most recently for self-published horror comic Rhapsodie #1: The Conductor. The second and third stories in the Rhapsodie series are currently in development.

Maddi’s debut as a graphic novel illustrator, TIFFANY’S GRIFFON (written by Magnolia Porter-Siddell) was published August 13th, 2024 with First Second Books. It has received a positive critical response, including a Kirkus Starred Review.

Maddi’s second graphic novel, GOOSEBUMPS: THE HAUNTED MASK (an adaptation of R. L. Stine’s chapter book of the same name) was released September 2024 with Scholastic Graphix. It was chosen as a Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Selection.

The second graphic novel in the Goosebumps Graphix series, GOOSEBUMPS: MONSTER BLOOD will be released this September. The third Goosebumps Graphix book is in development and will be released in fall 2026. Keep an eye out for the announcement!

Maddi is currently working with her fiancé, Spencer Amundson, on his major publishing debut as a comic artist.
